At IQRA Network, we understand and deeply respect the importance of gender-matching within an Islamic educational framework. Providing a comfortable, safe, and appropriate learning environment is paramount. We have a clear and thoughtful policy that allows students and families to choose the gender of their teacher to ensure that comfort is prioritized and Islamic norms are upheld.
This commitment begins right from the start. During the scheduling of your free evaluation, you will be asked for your preferred gender for the academic coach conducting the assessment.
Our Standard Gender-Matching Policy
Our primary goal is to ensure every student feels completely comfortable. The choice always resides with the student and their family.
For Teenagers and Adult Students: In adherence to Islamic principles, we have a standard policy of assigning teachers of the same gender to students who have reached the age of puberty and older.
For Younger Children: For our younger learners, the choice is based on the preference of the parents and the needs of the child. Some parents may prefer a teacher of the same gender as the child, while others may choose based on different criteria. We will honor your family's preference.
A Note for Parents: When choosing a teacher for your young child, we encourage you to also consider your own comfort, as you will be communicating with the teacher about your child's progress. We want to ensure that mothers and fathers both feel comfortable and respected in these important conversations.
Exceptions for Specialized Academic Needs
In certain rare cases, an exception to our standard gender-matching policy may be necessary. This occurs only when a student requires instruction in a highly specialized, advanced subject (for example, a specific school of Fiqh like Maliki) where the only available qualified expert is of the opposite gender. In such instances, we will discuss the situation with you transparently to ensure the highest level of academic instruction is available while still maintaining a respectful learning environment.
Our Commitment to Privacy: Internal Reviews
Our dedication to this principle extends beyond the classroom. When lessons are reviewed internally by our Teacher Mentors for quality assurance, our secure dashboard system ensures that these video recordings are only accessed and viewed by a mentor of the same gender as the teacher. This maintains a consistent chain of modesty and respect throughout our entire quality control process.
Your comfort, privacy, and adherence to Islamic values are woven into the fabric of IQRA's operations.
